Today’s pottery workshop for the Junior Science Club brought together most of AcrossBorders’ current team members working in Vienna – and it was also the perfect opportunity for a very warm welcome to our most recent recruitment: Arvi Korhonen, a Finish Egyptologist who studied Egyptology and Northeast African Archaeology, Classical Archaeology and Cultural History and Theory in Berlin (Humboldt University) has joined AcrossBorders for the next years!
I first met Arvi in 2006 during my time in Berlin – and since then he has joined me for a number of seasons in the field, both at Thebes (Asasif) and on Elephantine.
I am very happy that he will now study material culture within the framework of AcrossBorders – because of his expertise from several seasons of work at Elephantine, Arvi will in particular focus on finds from 18th Dynasty contexts at Elephantine (thanks to our cooperation with the Swiss Institute Cairo) and compare them with objects excavated on Sai Island.
